This course of Akan - Twi language is designed to teach both English and Twi speaking peoples ( young and old), to develop proficiency in reading and pronunciation, spelling and construction of sentences, as well as ability to speak Twi fluently, with a thorough understanding of it in English.

 Experience has shown that in learning how to read and write any language correctly, it is essential to, firstly, pay more attention to the formation of the words of the particular language on the basis of its syllables. Therefore this course has been arranged for the student-beginner to acquire knowledge of the Twi vocabulary by learning according to syllables. 

The course may be studied in group or privately by an individual with the aid of the relative audio cassette and/or under the tutorage of a Twi scholar with a good general knowledge of the English language. Furthermore, no special education qualifications are required as a prerequisite to understand this course. By a serious effort and constant practice, an illiterate or literate student-beginner of this course shall be able to speak the Twi language and read any Twi literature within six months, with a minimum study time of one to two hours per day.
